Breath, Freedom, Sleepwalking, Raspberries and Roses
Up first, this gentle, surreal meditation on breath—what would she be like? This poem appeared in August in Amethyst Review, a journal for “new writing engaging with the sacred.”

Two poems won honourable mentions in an Ontario Poetry Society contest and were included in an anthology of “poems of conscience.” One is a commentary on the inadequate state of care in nursing homes, and the other is about Harriet Tubman and her Underground Railroad work.
Possibly one of my own favourite poems is this prose poem that appeared in Eastern Iowa Review, a journal that specializes in lyrical (non-narrative) prose poems.

I'm honoured to be included in Kingston poet Bruce Kauffman’s “Poet First Project”, his radio tribute to those of us who have been a part of his monthly open mic reading series the last several years. You can take a listen here, if you want to find out how many books I used to read simultaneously, or how I write some of my poems.
